ALERT National Testing Agency (NTA) was approved by the Union Cabinet in November 2017 as an Autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for higher educational Institutions.
The NTA will bring qualitative difference in the examination process by its focus on research and scientific test design using services of Experts, Researchers, Statisticians, Psychometricians, Test Item Writers and Education Specialists. The item writers would be trained to ensure that the quality of questions is as per the test design. The experts, statisticians and item writers/subject matter experts are already identified for being inducted into NTA.

Features of exams to be conducted by NTA:
i) For the first time in the history of competitive examinations, the JEE (Main) will be conducted twice before admissions in the next academic session. This gives a choice to the students.
ii) This will give more chances to students thereby giving adequate opportunity to bring out his/her best and reducing stress which develops due to single exam conducted on one single day in the year. However, sitting in both the tests will not be compulsory. The
two tests for JEE (Main) will be equated using psychometric methods, standardization techniques and best of the equated scores will be used for the admissions.
iii) The examinations for all candidates will be conducted in online (computer based) mode only. (starting from next exam UGC-NET exam)
iv) JEE (Main) will be conducted in multiple sittings and a candidate will have an option of dates to choose from. Scores of different candidates in multiple sittings will also be equated using standardization
techniques.
v) These examinations will use highly secured IT software and encryption to ensure delivery of tests just in time. This will ensure no leakages and other malpractices.
vi) NTA will establish a network of test practice centers for students of rural areas so that everyone will have an opportunity to practice before the exam. Schools/engineering colleges with computer centers would be identified and kept open on Saturday/Sunday
starting from 3rd week of August. Any student can use the facility free of charge.
vii) All tests would be set in a scientific manner with the test items developed jointly by the subject matter experts and psychometricians. Before developing the question papers, the item writers for the exams will be given feedback on the functioning of the previous years’ items so that they are able to make test items which are more valid and reliable. All the above mentioned examinations will be held in existing number of languages.
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a national level engineering entrance exam to be held yearly in India. JEE basically a common entrance examination for admission to different engineering courses. JEE score is the main criteria for admission in Indian Institute of Technology and National Institute of technology.
What’s New in JEE Main 2019?
- National Testing Agency (NTA) has taken over from CBSE and will be conducting the exam twice a year – one in January and one in April.
- The exam will be computer based from 2019
- Practice centers will be set up across the country where students can go on every Saturday and Sunday to prepare.
- Mock tests will be released from September 1 for candidates to practice at home or at the centers set up for this purpose.
- Candidates can appear in one or both the exams. The better of the scores will be considered for admissions.
- There will be no change in exam pattern, syllabus, fees or language of the exam.
- The exam will be held on multiple sessions across days with 2 lakh candidates per session. The total slots will be eight for both the January and April exams.

Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination (QE)
We have classified the ‘IIT JEE Mains 2019 Eligibility Criteria – Years of Appearance’ in 3 categories based on their Educational Qualification. Please check below –
- If you have appeared in your class 12 examination in the year of 2017 or 2018, you can apply for this year’s JEE Main.
- If you will be appearing in your class 12 examination in 2019, you can apply too.
- If you have 5 subjects in your class 12 you are eligible to apply, candidates with 4 subjects in their class 12 will not be accepted.
- The candidates who have attempted JEE Main three times will not be allowed, as the number of maximum attempts is 3.
Number of subjects in the Qualifying Examination (QE)
Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Main) – 2019. The candidates who have taken four subjects are not permitted to write JEE (Main) 2019 and if such candidates appear in JEE(Main) 2018 by furnishing wrong information, their rank/result will not be declared.

Below is the complete exam pattern for JEE entrance exam 2019. JEE (Main) – 2019 shall have two papers, Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) and Paper-2 (B. Arch./B. Planning.). The duration of exam is 3 hours.

- For every correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded to the candidates.
- 1 marks will be deducted for each incorrect response.

From 2019, instead of CBSE, JEE would be conducted by newly formed NTA or National Testing Agency. The official website of JEE Main 2019 is www.nta.ac.in. The aspirant of Engineering can visit the official website of JEE Main 2019 for online application form, download admit card, correction in form, all India quota details, counselling, admission in Engineering college wise cut-off marks, score card etc.
JEE Main 2019 Syllabus
The syllabus of JEE Main 2019 will be the same as in the previous year. Candidates will be able to know which chapter and topics have to be studied for the examination through the prescribed syllabus. Topics from Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry of class 11 & 12 will be present in the syllabus for JEE Main 2019 Paper I. For Paper II, the syllabus will consist of Mathematics, aptitude test and drawing. Before preparation, the candidates are advised to check the detailed syllabus, since this will allow them to know which topics are likely to come and accordingly prepare their schedule.
Number of Attempts:
The exam authorities have set a rule regarding JEE Main 2019 Eligibility Criteria that the candidates will only be able to appear in the exam for 3 times. This means that any candidate can avail only 3 chances to give the JEE Mains Exam.
Provisions for Persons with Disabilities:
- The candidates with disability should fill in the type and percentages of disability correctly in the online application form for JEE (Main) 2019.
- Only the candidates, who have 40% or more disability, will be provided Scribe/Reader on the request of the candidate.
- The candidate will have the discretion of opting his/her own scribe/reader or may submit the request to the center superintendent for the same.
- The center superintendent will identify the scribe/ reader. In case a request is received from the candidate, he/she would be allowed to meet the scribe a day before the examination to verify the suitability of the scribe.
- One hour compensatory (extra) time will also be allowed to the candidates with 40% or more disability irrespective of the fact that the candidate(s) is/are availing the facility of scribe/reader.
JEE Main Application Form 2019
NTA will be releasing the application form of JEE Main 2019 for the January exam on September 1, 2018. The candidates will be able to access the JEE Main 2018 application form in online mode. The final date to fill and submit the application form will be September 30, 2018. All personal and academic information submitted by the candidates has to be valid in nature. The application fee also has to be paid by the candidates. JEE Main 2 registration will begin from February 8th to March 7th.

Process of applying for JEE Main 2019
Before filling up the application form the candidate should have a scanned image of his/her photograph, signature and father’s/mother’s/guardian’s signature. These scanned images are to be uploaded during the submission of application form. The photograph should be color or b/w (but clear contrast) with name of the candidate and date of taking the photograph printed on it as shown below. It should be without cap or goggles. Spectacles are allowed. Polaroid photos are not acceptable. Candidates with unclear photograph are liable to be rejected. Candidates may keep 6-8 identical photographs in reserve for use at the time of entrance examination, Seat Allocation Process and Admission.
